In 2008 Edi began producing bread for the Rainbow View bakery and, together with Manu, began a community supported agriculture project, whose aim was to grow fresh local produce for the local community. In our second year we grew a variety of vegetables for veg boxes for 25 families.
Now in 2011, we have been continuing production of bread, salad packs for sale locally and we are also refocussing our land project to integrate more permaculture principles and perenial plants into the garden to assist our efforts to grow enough food to serve the needs of our small group.
This year have also been planting windbreaks and managing a small woodland to provide wood for home fires as well as contributing some of the fuel for the Casa Mama mobile oven. We are very excited that all but a few of the trees that we planted in the spring, that will form the 1st canopy of our small forest garden, are doing well having survived this dry summer of 2011.
